Shoot 7

This project is a precursor to my final project where I will be making images commenting on the gas crisis. My goal is to make another six images like this one all consisting of gas stuff. Thats right I refered to it as gas stuff. What is gas stuff you say? well pumps nozzles barrels and traffic all combined with gas masks and hands and other images of strife. What will it look like you say? Well kind of like this.

Studio Shoot 6

For this shoot I wanted to do a poster about the housing crisis. That being said I walked down the street, found a house for sale, whipped out my flash and started firing away. My idea was to use the flash as a strobe but man oh man did that go awry. I was using a new camera that I honestly wasn't that comfortable with. I guess it was more of the lens conversion stuff that I had grown acostomed to not worrying about. ok so complaints aside I think the shoot came out ok considering the issues. Like most photographers these days if something goes wrong just fix it in post.

When doing research I googled hosing crisis and 9 out of ten of the shots were of for sale signs. Pretty neat huh? Well I decided I wasn't the man to break the mold so I went along like a little sheep and followed the google images herd, but just a bit. I wanted to keep the sign motif but add a little touch of . . . well me. I took the signs and made them my own by blowing them up and adding other looming signs in the sky. I think all in all it worked. I also think you agree (my attempt at using the force)

Studio Shoot 5

For the fifth shoot I decided to continue with propaganda posters. Where the first one was meant to represent the fear of a political party this project was to be for a or pro a specific political party. I continued along with the socialist party and attempted to make a pro-socialist poster. When researching similar imagery the one ongoing theme was the socialist workers fist. I took this fist (as seen below) and incorporated it into my own photography. For the shoot I went to the roof of the school and shot a few with a radio tower as the background. The lighting was fairly simple, the hands were back lit by the sunset (not directly but at an angle around 45 degrees). I then took a travelight and had it fill in the hands. After doing some repositioning I finally got the lighting just teh way I wanted. My goal was to have the fist slightly out reaching the hands reaching. The key was to get a little key light on the front side of the fist. After moving around a bit I finally got what I was looking for.
